We attended the funeral of a beautiful gal who was tragically killed in an accident on the 405 in Long Beach on Feb. 17th. She was only 23. I found this prayer very beautiful and very profound in the journey we all take in our lives.
Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled
as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving and FORGIVING that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
Amen
No one is perfect. Everyone falls and fails at times in their lives. It's what that person does to correct the flaws and failures that makes that person. To toss someone aside that has been in ones life for their whole live is so sad. If you love that person you should encourage and being encouraging that they are taking steps to change their life and eliminate the problems that have led to just discord. I know there are people that all may know that have drug and alcohol problems and have sought helped and changed their lives. And I know that people have stood by them and not thrown them under the bus. To throw so much away to punish someone is something I will never understand. In punishing that person you are also punishing others which is so unfair to make others pay for someone elses failures and actions. Forgiveness is something that all should embrace. If a person is/has changed what was so damaging to themselves and to others why would one not support and forgive. God Bless you all.
